In what ways do you think the history of your chosen country (or the country of your ethnic background) influence its view on education?

  1. Vietnam influences education in the same sense as America does. They break it down into different grades so you have Elementary school, middle school, high school and college. Each school builds off the previous one and tries to promote higher education. Even for colleges students still have to apply and test in just like they do in America.

  2. Like what Nathan said, the Phillipines have the same system as America. If you wanna be a nurse in the Philippines youll probably take the same class as in America. For my family background my parents put a lot of emphasis on education. They beleive that education is the only way to be succesful in America. Im sure most American families wants the same for their children.

  3. my country is Korea. I think the education of Korea is very hard. For example, when I was high school student in Korea, i spent very many hours at school every day Monday to Friday. I spent like 13 hours every day and they did not let me go home because said study for passing university.

and even though a person graduates a university, they may not get job in Korea. it is very difficult.

  4. I guess it affects the education in the system part. As an Indonesian, my country was colonized by many countries. i found out that the educational system that i have back then in Indonesia are similar to those countries.

  5. Epistemic Position! In American history books, kids are taught that the US dropped the atomic bombs on Japan out of necessity. I believe in Japan, that they aren't as apathetic towards this.

  6. I believe any education no mater which nationality you are from, requires determination and focus if you want to succeed. Personally, I see the American education system as how much do you want to progress for your future. And how much are you willing to go as far as you can in a certain type of career.

  7. My country is China. In Chinese education, the method that they use to teach students its the "go by the rules" method. We have to go to school for more than 12hours in a day and even on weekends. So,I think that the way Chinese people educate the students is very restricted. I think, it should be give students more free-style.
