He obviously gets a lot of attention because it is rare to see a person of Asian descent to play so well in the NBA. I think its great that he's getting notoriety. Of course people will like him because he is Asian, I think that is the whole point. He is representing a group of people who never really shined in the NBA. Many other NBA players play just as well as him, and even better, but because it is so rare for someone of Asian descent, he gets the attention. I think there is nothing wrong with that.
I think it can be related to Obama's election. Lin is a good ball player but i think he is so popular because he is asian, educated and good. Obama at the time to some people seemed like a good president but there are also the people that voted for him just because he was black. The media always seems to focus on racial bandwagons, current one being tyron the black kid that was shot by the older mexican.
