A lot of Asian Parents in the past saw teenage pregnancy as a dishonor and shameful act towards their family. Do you think this is still the same negative mindset in today's society? Or do parents seem to be more lenient about their teen's pregnancy in these modern times?

I think parent now days might still feel shameful toward what their daughter has done but on the other hand they will be more lenient and try to help solve the problem. Find adoption or some other ways.
ReplyDeleteI think that teen pregnancy really is a showing of irresponsibility of the partners. However, it is really important for the girl to have a support system, because it is basically a child carrying another child. A teenager is in no way ready for a baby physically and mentally. and decisions will be hard therefore a parent or the father should be there to help
ReplyDeleteI think it all depends on the parent's personality, but for the majority of the parents, it is still probably a disappointment. This particularly doesn't relate only to Asians, but to almost everyone in the world. Education should be priority before having a family.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. it depends on the status. if they have been married. it is okay to have teenage pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on the family. Many Asian families and parents still frown upon teen pregnancy. However, i think some Asian families who are more assimilated have shifted their thoughts slightly and accept teen pregnancy. For example, recently, I watched a Taiwanese show and people approve of teen pregnancy in the show.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that any parent wouldn't want their teen daughter pregnant at a young age. They would probably have mixed feeling towards the situation. Some parents accept it and some don't. In modern times, I feel that the situation would still have the same reactions since back in the day.
ReplyDeleteLike Arthur said, no parents want to have their teenage daughter to get pregnant. It's just that society now is more accepting towards the idea of teenage pregnancy. Another factor that could be considered is what generation they the parents are. I know a girl who got pregnant and she was in high school during this time and like I said before, her parents were still disappointed but they didn't kick her out of the house or anything, they just took appropriate steps and helped her deal with the pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteI would say that teenage pregnancy is still going to be a dishonor and shamefulness to the parents. It show that the parents didn't do their job in raising their kids and just let them do whatever they wanted. This wouldn't be such a big deal if they can just get an abortion. These teenagers are not ready for this parenting and it can become a cycle. I rather the babies go to heaven then live a life of hell.
ReplyDeleteI think that parents would definitely be disappointed if their teen daughter got pregnant because of the circumstances such as being to young, out of wedlock, and can't focus on education. That doesn't mean that they won't support her though and help her though it.
